MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING
The H&I committee holds its monthly business meeting on the Third Monday of each month at --
100 Minner Rd, Bakersfield, CA. 93308 from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Orientation for New Volunteers begins at 6:45pm
H&I is a service committee as defined in the Ninth Tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous; “AA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.” H&I’s chapter is stated in AA’s Fifth Tradition; “Each group has but one primary purpose-to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.” H&I is a committee of the Kern County Intergroup and the Director of H&I is automatically a voting member of the Kern County Intergroup Board. The H&I Committee is also represented at the Intergroup Institutional Committee of Southern California. The Kern County Hospitals & Institutions Committee is also and autonomous committee of Mid-Southern California Area 09 of the General Service Conference – and has a vote on that committee through its elected General Service Representative (GSR). All members of H&I are volunteers who are members of Alcoholics Anonymous, have at least one year of sobriety and have met the H&I membership requirements. H&I officers are elected from the general membership of the H&I committee and serve for the period specified on each “Position Description” with the possibility of one re-election. In keeping with AA’s Sixth Tradition, H&I fully cooperates with the facilities which is serves but does not affiliate itself with any of these facilities. H&I’s service is at request and invitation of the facility’s administration. Each member of H&I cannot and does not speak for AA. Each volunteer member is, however, a representative of AA in these facilities. H&I complies with AA’s Seventh Tradition of self-support through group and individual contributions and through a collection taken at the monthly business meetings. No funds are solicited outside of Alcoholics Anonymous. Donations from groups and individuals take the form of either money or AA literature. Individual contributions may not exceed three thousand dollars ($3,000) in any one-year period.
Monthly H&I Meeting is on the 3rd Monday at 7 pm (Orientation at 6:45)
